Forecast of Chinese electric power development situation in 2022
In 2022, electricity consumption will still maintain a relatively fast growth, but the growth rate will be significantly lower than that in 2021. In 2021, China will consume 8.3 trillion KWH of electricity, a year-on-year increase of 10.3 percent and a two-year average increase of 7.1 percent. Influenced by the base factor of last year, the growth rate of power consumption in the four quarters showed a trend of "high before and low after". The average growth rate in the four quarters in the past two years was 7.0%, 8.2%, 7.1% and 6.8% respectively, maintaining a steady and fast growth on the whole.
Looking ahead to 2022, it is estimated that the growth rate of the whole society's electricity consumption may reach more than 5% in 2022, considering such factors as stability, the supporting role of economic policies, the driving role of bad weather in heating and cooling, and the supporting role of electric energy replacement in various fields. The contribution of the tertiary industry and residential life to the growth of electricity consumption will be more balanced, and the growth of the tertiary industry and residential electricity consumption will be significantly higher than in 2021.
In terms of power supply, the newly installed capacity in 2022 is expected to exceed 200 million kW, and the newly installed capacity of new energy will hit a record high. In 2021, China's installed power generating capacity saw rapid growth, with new energy accounting for more than a quarter of the total installed capacity. Looking ahead to 2022, the newly installed hydropower and thermal power will decrease slightly compared to 2021. Driven by the "double carbon" goal, the whole county distributed photovoltaic, the construction of large wind power and photovoltaic bases in desert, Gobi and desert areas continues to advance, and the new energy still maintains rapid growth, with the new scale expected to exceed 100 million kW. It is expected that by the end of 2022, the installed capacity of new energy will account for nearly 30% of the total installed power generation capacity.

The operation of the steel industry
Steel output maintained growth. In October, the output of pig iron, crude steel and steel was 76.17 million tons, 92.2 million tons and 11.48 million tons, respectively, up 9.4 percent, 12.7 percent and 14.2 percent year-on-year. From January to October, the output of pig iron, crude steel and steel stood at 740 million tons, 870 million tons and 1.08 million tons, respectively, up 4.3 percent, 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent year-on-year.

From January to June, crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises increased by 5.5% year on year, 2 percentage points lower than the national average, but still accounted for 60% of the increase.
